My Journey...

I have always wanted to work with children and originally I wanted to work with children in hospitals. I completed my Level II Childrens Care, Learning and Development and wanted to gain more experience. I joined OMC to become an Apprentice Early Years Educator in 2015 and worked within the Maths and Hall areas of the Church Gresley setting. I really enjoyed developing relationships with the children and I love being a key person. In my time at Our Monkey Club I have worked in most spaces and enjoy playing with the children in their self directed play.
I loved creating the Forest School provision and as an experienced leader within the scouting movement I understood the impact of outdoor experiences. I led many of the sessions and loved planning the different activities including den making, fire building and nature walks. The children grew in confidence and while at first they would often worry about the cold, soon they would be engaged in the natural environment and warm up. I loved watching the change in the children and this is something I want to continue. I have also spent time with the children at Donisthorpe and love going to visit the friends I made within the Out of School Service.

I currently work with our youngest children and support children on a 1:1 or small group basis from 9 months old.  I have loved my time in the under twos rooms and enjoy support the children as they are ready to transition into the larger play space.  Watching them build the skills they need and then how quickly they find their feet and become independent is very rewarding.
