My Journey...

I started at OMC in 2014 after completing my degree in Eductation. I applied as an apprentice to gain valuable work experience with young children and competed my Level 2 Early Years Practitioner course. I spent my apprenticeship working within all spaces at Our Monkey Club but focussed my time in the Hall spaces supporting Physical Development and the mathematics room. I loved watching the childrens confidence grow and was constantly amazed by the skills the children could develop as they challenged themselves to jump higher, do roly polys and climb the apparatus. We planned large group games and opportunities to help the childrens social skills, imagination and communication.
Once I completed my Level 2 Early Years Practitioner I decided to return to a post-graduate pathway and I enrolled in the Early Years Teacher status at Pen Green Research Base. I spent a year deepening my understanding of effective working practices with children from birth to five and completing projects to enhance the centre and to improve the outcomes for our children.

I love working with children and have been particularly interested in understanding childrens drive to problem solve and construct and design within their play.  I have focused on the use of practical mathematics within context to support children to use maths in a productive and concrete way.  Watching children learn and celebrating their learning with them is my favourite part of my role and I have watched and supported many children to grow in confidence and become capable and creative learners during their time with us.
