Our Learning Support System

At Our Monkey Club (OMC), we believe in fostering an environment where every child’s unique learning journey is supported through a holistic approach to observation, assessment, and planning. Our Learning Support System is designed to ensure that each child’s developmental needs are met, and their progress is continually supported in a nurturing, play-based environment.

Observation

Observation is the cornerstone of our approach at OMC. Our skilled practitioners carefully observe children during their play and daily activities, noting key developmental milestones, emerging interests, and any areas where additional support may be needed. By focusing on natural play scenarios, we gain valuable insights into each child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
Purpose of Observation
The goal is to understand how each child interacts with their environment, peers, and the resources provided. This helps us identify their strengths, preferences, and any challenges they may face.
Process
Observations are conducted regularly and are documented to create a detailed picture of the child’s progress over time. These observations are then used to inform our assessments and planning.

Assessment

Based on the observations, we assess each child’s developmental stage and progress. Our assessments are ongoing and dynamic, allowing us to adapt our approach as the child grows and develops.
Individualized Approach
Assessments are tailored to the unique needs of each child. We consider their personal experiences, cultural background, and individual learning style.
Holistic Development
We assess not only academic skills but also social, emotional, and physical development, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of each child’s needs.
Tools Used
We use a variety of tools and methods for assessment, including developmental checklists, learning stories, and child profiles. These tools help us track progress and identify areas where targeted support might be beneficial.

Planning

The insights gained from observation and assessment directly inform our planning. At OMC, planning is flexible and responsive, ensuring that each child’s learning experiences are relevant, engaging, and supportive of their development.

Child-Centred Planning: Our planning is guided by the interests and needs of the children. Activities and learning opportunities are designed to build on what children already know and can do, while also introducing new challenges that promote further development.

Inclusive and Adaptive: We ensure that our plans are inclusive of all children, including those with additional needs. Our approach is adaptive, meaning we are always ready to adjust our plans based on the child’s changing needs and interests.

Collaboration with Families: We recognize the importance of involving families in the planning process. Regular communication with parents ensures that they are informed about their child’s progress and can contribute their insights and suggestions.

The Impact of Our Learning Support System

Our robust Learning Support System ensures that every child at OMC is given the best possible opportunities to thrive. By closely aligning observation, assessment, and planning, we create a dynamic learning environment that is both supportive and challenging. Children develop a strong foundation of skills that will serve them well throughout their educational journey and beyond. This approach also fosters a deep connection between children, their families, and our practitioners, creating a community that supports every aspect of a child’s development.
